Remember the 2011 movie, Bad Teacher? I never saw it, but certainly was exposed to the previews.
Though I’m sure the reunion of Cameron Diaz & Justin Timberlake post-breakup was super fun on set (NOT)! – they probably handled filming like the pros they are.
That leads me to ask the question – what makes a bad teacher? And what makes a pro teacher?
Bad teachers can’t teach. They are unclear, inpatient, rude, uncivil, disorganized & cannot communicate clearly. They lack a teaching plan, ability to mentor others properly, & overvalue their own knowledge. They forgot that a teacher once taught them properly. Think: Cameron Dias in Bad Teacher!
A pro teacher is one who can break down difficult concepts & piece out the basics so any beginner can learn. They know how to teach at different levels, from beginner to advanced. They understand their topic so well, they can answer questions with no problem. They are compassionate, kind & generous with their time. Think: Miss Stacy from the 80’s classic Anne of Green Gables (my fav movie ever by the way)!
Now it’s your turn! You tell me – what makes a bad teacher & what makes a good one? Comment below!
